As if, if you aren’t moving forward, then you are failing.
But what’s wrong with failing, anyway? Why does it have this huge stigmata attached to it that makes it a heresy to even think about? What makes it so horrible that people get locked into indecision and are petrified to move forward?
I mean, seriously, what ever happened to risk?
If all we have is success, then we don’t have success at all, because success isn’t really success without failure. After all, don’t we measure our successes as a comparison to our failures?
I think the people who can’t accept failure are on course to find failure, but in a big way.
No matter how much you try to succeed, you are going to fail from time to time. It’s just a matter of life, the universe, and everything. (notice, not the answer, just a matter of, cause we all know the answer is 42).
But we look at failure as a mark of disdain. We label those who fail with monikers like loser, has-been, flop, and reject. We make fun of their attempts, we mock their pain, we rally together to point and laugh…
All in hopes that no one else will see that we were never brave enough to even try.
And we pull down the risk taker, making him part of the normal. Suffocating his dream, dashing his desire, and clawing him back down for daring to attempt to leave the pack.
Failure is the spice that makes success that much better.
Granted, as with all things spice.. just be careful how much you add!
