Deep breath out…
It’s over.
With all the pain and torment that has gone into this relationship, all the joys and emotions in the pursuit of making sure everything was on track, the countless hours I have invested into it…
For the last 25 years, I may not have done it right, I may have allowed other things to get in the way, I may even have neglected it for way too long, but for the last few years, I have poured so much into it, that I have even forsaken my video games.
But, as of this morning, it is finally over.
A chapter in my life that has taken the better part of 25 years has come to a close and I can cry out in my best imitation of Mel Gibson imitating William Wallace…
Now… before you go freaking out too much. I’m ok. I’m actually really happy. I even giggled a little like a loon this morning when I realized it was over.
On a side note, loon’s look a bit crazy when they giggle, don’t they? Honestly, I don’t even know why this is a thing. I suppose the sound is more apropos than the photo, because, that photo just… yeah.
But, anywho…
The last few weeks have been tense, but when I got to Panera’s, as is my fairly normal Saturday routine, I checked one last time and there it was.
My final grades had officially posted…
Wait… what did you think I was talking about? You didn’t think… no? About her and I? Nah, we are all good. Probably a bit more nutty than that loon above, but no, we are all good. Didn’t have you worried there did I?
Now that we are all on the same page… there they were, in the beautiful digital font that I can only assume is Arial or New Times Roman (can people tell that just from sight?), but I didn’t care, because, next to each of the 6 classes I took this semester, that A stood bold and proud.
And with those grades posted, I have secured my associates degree in English, a degree that started as an A.S. in Business in 1990, changed to an A.S. computers in 92, had a brief layover as A.A. in mathematics in 93, and then went on a 21-year hiatus, when I decided to follow my wife’s lead and go back to college.
So, there it is, the end of a chapter. On an incredibly high note too boot.
Now, because I apparently am a mental masochist (as is testified by the fact I took 6 classes in one semester), bring on the Bachelor’s program!
Yay, Todd!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
That’s really impressive! 🙂

Thanks. I’m sure the tags that appear give it away, but I’m suspecting that most might not read the tags. I could be wrong, however.

As far as I’m concerned you already started the bachelor’s program with that six A in six classes!!. Then you might as well keep it rolling through to the Masters. That’s what happened to me after a similiar ten year hiatus:) Congratulations!
