The End of March…

It’s March 31st. Today marks the last day of my haiku challenge (self-imposed) that started… um, a month ago. Yeah, did that feel weird to anyone else?

I have written 31 haiku for this challenge (yep, as I write this the last one is scheduled to go live at 5pm which is after you will be reading this (because I’m going to schedule this to go live after that)) even though I have written more than 31 this month (hey, Ronovan and Horizon’s get their very own for their challenges, it would have felt like cheating if I did it any other way).

What did I learn?

I learned that I still don’t schedule things like I should. I learned that I miss my own imposed deadlines (I wanted to post at 5pm every day. Yep, missed that mark a few times). I learned that I can write haiku that I don’t care about, post them, get good responses and still feel like a sham. I learned that I really want to be writing more.

I also learned, and probably the thing I will take away from this the most, that if I want to accomplish something, just do it.

So, there it is. I feel like I accomplished something. It’s not a lot, but it’s something. Now, maybe next month I’ll tackle cinquain. Yeah, that’s right, I’m moving on up in the syllabic poetry tree.
