The Aftermath…

I thought about live tweeting the hurricane but figured the news was doing a good job of that. Plus, I don’t think people would really care about reading, “The wind is howling like a banshee on an Irish isle during a full moon,” or “I’m not sure what that banging noise was, maybe my wife stubbed her toe while walking around in the dark.”

None of that seems really tweet-worthy.

Thankfully, Matthew wiped a bit, then it wobbled a bit, and I went… Na Na…

Seriously, I’m not the only one who thought that, right? Right?

Fine. Maybe I was.

But then Matthew said…

And I breathed a little easier. Until my power went out at 1130. Because it got hot. Fast.

Power is still out. But FPL is working on it. So hopefully…

fingers-crossed

But, in the aftermath of the hurricane, we are fine. Everyone I know is fine. And if power is the only issue I have to worry about, I’m thankful. Many people got it far worse.

And although life may not be back to normal,  I made my way to Panera to get coffee, get a bagel and.. wait… it’s Saturday, this is my normal routine.

I thought it seemed a bit familiar.

Anyway, just thought I’d throw out an update and let anyone who might wonder, know.

  1. Glad you made it through. Hurricanes, tornadoes and the horrible heat are the reasons why I moved away from The South. Other than the weather, I quite liked it there. Hope your power comes back soon

        1. Thankfully, because it just skirted us, the power outages in our area weren’t as bad as they could have been. Massive props and shout outs to the men and women who worked so hard to get us back to normal.

  2. VERY glad to hear electricity was the only problem for you 😀 I was following that all day/night (other than sleep) until Hurricane Donald took over the airwaves, so I’m not sure about the surges and how that aspect turned out. I was only aware that overall it wasn’t quite as bad as anticipated. Did you enjoy your coffee? 🙂

      1. Oh, my, four? I do one when I wake up, and I only started that habit once we got the Keurig back at the end of 2011 and I was heading a conference that took over my life for a good 10 months, wasn’t sleeping much and actually NEEDed the caffeine in the morning. It’s not often I’ll do more than one, but now, if I don’t have it, I really miss it, not just for the caffeine, but the palette 🙂

        1. I only drink four when I’m at Panera’s on the weekend. It’s usually because I’m busy doing homework or what not, otherwise, I have a large from Dunkin in the morning and maybe one from my Keurig before I leave the house (but that’s only if I get up really early to write).
